What to Expect at Nigerian Immigration

Landing in Nigeria? Here’s exactly what happens when you present your Visa on Arrival approval letter. Know what to bring, who to talk to, and how long it takes at the airport.

1. Arrival at the Airport

When you land, follow signs for international arrivals. Before heading to immigration, make sure your documents are ready.

2. Proceed to the VoA Desk

There’s a designated Visa on Arrival counter. Present your approval letter (printed), your passport, and Yellow Fever card.

3. Verification by Officers

Immigration officers will verify your documents, stamp your passport, and issue the visa sticker. This process typically takes 15–30 minutes if all is in order.

4. Common Causes of Delay

Delays can happen if your approval letter is missing, expired, or if the name on your passport doesn’t match your letter. Nova helps you avoid these issues.

5. Final Clearance

After getting your visa, proceed to customs and baggage claim. You’re now officially in Nigeria!

💡 TIP: Keep digital copies of all documents as backup. And print at least 2 copies of your VoA letter.
